Someone on your side of the desk.

Simbioza exists because the four jobs that make health care work for a patient — coordinating, navigating, advocating, managing the case — are almost never done by someone the patient hired. We changed who they answer to.

Why we built it

When my daughter was fourteen she developed severe abdominal pain and missed months of school. In a year we saw three gastroenterologists, a pediatrician and a neurologist, went through an MRE, a CT, ultrasounds and endless blood tests, then tried an acupuncturist, a naturopath, an osteopath and a medical psychologist. Every one of them was competent. None was looking at the whole child, and each diagnosis contradicted the last. We spent the year scheduling, chasing insurance, carrying results from one office to the next, and paying for private care just to skip the queue. What we wanted, and could not find, was one person whose job was her case: hold every result in one place, make sense of the conflicting opinions, tell us what to do next. That is what Simbioza is.

What we believe

  • The patient should be the only person the advocate works for.
  • Nothing should fall between two doctors.
  • Every denial should be appealed.
  • You should always know what to do next.
